La economía del hidrógeno se perfila, hoy en día, como una alternativa real a la economía basada en los combustibles fósiles. Se plantea la posibilidad de producir “hidrógeno verde” desde energía renovable, y emplearlo como combustible alternativo para los sectores de movilidad, industria y residencial, y también para gestionar esa energía eléctrica de origen renovable. Y, en medio de todo este esquema, está la electrólisis, la posibilidad de separar la molécula de agua en oxígeno e hidrógeno mediante electricidad de origen renovable. En este sentido, actualmente se consideran varias tecnologías, en diferente grado de madurez, para el desarrollo de electrolizadores
Hydrogen economy is emerging today as a real alternative to the economy based on fossil fuels. The possibility of producing “green hydrogen” from renewable energy is being considered, and the use of this hydrogen as an alternative fuel for the mobility, industrial and residential sectors, and also to manage the renewable power. And, in the middle of this whole scheme, electrolysis is located: the possibility of separating the water molecule into oxygen and hydrogen using electricity from renewable sources.
