Resumen de Deformidad por habit ticHabit Tic deformity

Camilo Arias Rodríguez

  • Habit tic deformity occurs as consequence of a repetitive trauma against the distal ungular matrix, and it’s characterized by an alteration of the nail plate in a washboard disposition, usually associated to an abnormal cuticle. It’s a subreported disorder, considered by some authors as a subtype of onychotillomania. It’s related to psychiatric diseases, especially to obsessive compulsive disorder. There are few studies about its treatment. In this article, a literature review is made, including therapeutic options and its efficacy.
