  • Resumen
    • To keep the natural fertility of the soil, we decided to study the improvement of one of its most interesting properties: cationic exchange capacity (C.I.C). Before developing this work, we designed a theoretical-experimental model that allowed us to forecast the effect of the addition of compost from urban solid waste on a clay loam soil¥s C.I.C. We found that it increases with an increasing percentage of compost. The variation law follows the algebraic expression y=axb (y=C.I.C; x=% de compost; log a=2.8987; b=0.2908 r=0.9928) The experimental procedure proposed involves non-continuous extraction processes through consecutive centrifugation and decantation operations in a heterogeneous medium, which affects the precision of the results. According to this model, the most suitable number of repetitions is established in order to obtain reliable analytical results. The present work consists of studying the variation of C.I.C. as a consequence of the addition of compost to soils of different textures and origin. The compost added comes from the Ador plant (Valencia) and the concentration range in the soil includes the usual application dosis in the Valencian Community. Texture types of the assayed soils: loam, sandy, sandy loam, sandy clay loam. The experimental results obtained are compared and the practical usefulness of compost dosification is discussed as well as its suitability according to the application mode and type of culture.
