Resumen de Aprovechamiento energético de los residuos sólidos urbanos (RSU) en España

Nely Carreras, José Luis Dorronsoro

  • The municipal solid wastes (MSW) constitute an important resource to produce electricity. In the case of Spain more than 15 million tons of these wastes are generated every year. Besides of the high rate in which they are produced, the fact that they are continuously generated and concentrated in specific areas increases in a great measure their value for energetic uses. Electric energy can be obtained from the MSW by means of microbiological biogas or thermal transformations. At the present time, the electric energy from MSW produced in our country comes from the biogas generated in landfill sites as well as from the incineration of these residues. The present work shows the location and characteristics of the plants that produce electric energy from the MSW in Spain.
