Executed as a cooperative activity between the graduate school and the industrial complex, this study develops an empirical model for industrial waste management in the Uberlandia region. The present situation is defined through the collection of data and information at the municipal landfill and the main waste sources. Pioneer companies are identified who have implemented their Environmental Management System through the use of widely available management tools. As the most significant result, the study points to the need for only one landfill in the municipality that takes care of household and industrial waste.
