Resumen de La importancia de la eficiencia energética: evidencia reciente para España

El informe del IPCC (Grupo Intergubernamental de Expertos sobre el Cambio Climático) muestra que existe una brecha entre la necesidad de lograr emisiones netas de gases de efecto invernadero para 2050, y lo prometido por los líderes políticos. En este contexto, la eficiencia energética puede jugar un papel fundamental en el fomento del ahorro energético; y sin embargo, observamos unos niveles bajos de inversión en ella. Resulta, por tanto, determinante investigar las principales causas de esta aparente paradoja. Este artículo analiza las diferentes barreras a la inversión en eficiencia energética, revisando también los instrumentos de política pública que permitirían abordarlas, ofreciendo una visión general de algunas de las últimas contribuciones al caso español.

The IPCC report shows that there is a gap between the need to achieve net GHG emissions by 2050, and what has been promised by political leaders. In this context, energy efficiency can play a key role in promoting energy savings, and yet we observe low levels of energy efficiency investments.
It is therefore crucial to investigate the main causes of this apparent paradox. This article analyses the different barriers to invest in energy efficiency, also reviewing the public policy instruments that would allow them to be addressed, offering an overview of some of the latest contributions to the Spanish case
