Resumen de Disputas de soberanía antártica en época de pandemia: el juego legislativo de acción-reacción entre Argentina y Chile

  La pandemia del Covid-19 pone de relieve la necesidad de la acción cooperativa de los Estados y expone a la Antártida como espacio seguro, libre del virus. Al mismo tiempo invisibiliza las tensiones entre Argentina y Chile tras la puja normativa en torno a las leyes argentinas 27.557 y 27.558 que declaran la  extensión de soberanía de la plataforma continental, y el Estatuto Antártico Chileno. El paquete legislativo amenaza el futuro de los vínculos argentino-chileno y la acción antártica. Sin embargo es necesario recuperar las relaciones entre los pueblos que  llevan consigo el sentido estratégico regional que permita una lectura conjunta del tratado Antártico y el Derecho al Mar, para que no quede librado a interpretaciones de cada país.

  This pandemic poses the need for cooperative action across states and reveals Antarctica as a safe, virus-free space. At the same time, it conceals the tensions between Argentina and Chile following the normative bid around Argentine laws 27,557 and 27,558, which declare the extension of sovereignty over the continental shelf, and the Chilean Antarctic Statute. The present legislative package threatens the future of Argentine-Chilean ties and forthcoming actions over Antarctica. However, it is necessary to rebuild the relationship between these two peoples, as they possess a regional strategic sense that allows a joint reading of the Antarctic Treaty and the Law of the Sea, so that it will not be left to biased interpretations by each country
