    El gènere criminal no és original de Catalunya, sinó dels Estats Units i del Regne Unit, amb exponents com Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) i Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930). Ara bé, mitjançant primer la traducció i després la producció pròpia, els territoris de parla catalana també van anar desenvolupant obres d’aquest tipus de literatura. Després de revisar qüestions terminològiques i de parlar de l’origen del gènere, aquest article conté una cronologia de la recepció de les primeres obres angleses i de la producció de les primeres obres catalanes, i comprèn el període de les últimes dècades del segle xix i les tres primeres dècades del segle xx.

    Catalonia did not originate crime fiction, which appeared in the United States and the United Kingdom, with writers such as Edgar Allan Poe (1809-1849) and Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930). However, first through translation and then original production, the Catalan-speaking territories have also developed works in this genre. This article features a chronology of the reception of the first English language works and the production of the first Catalan works throughout the period of the last decades of the 19th century and the first three decades ofthe 20th century.
