El contraste entre las palabras execrable y ejemplar nos invita a reflexionar sobre el modo en que algunas mujeres han pasado a la historia. En un breve repaso sobre las bases de la historiografía y el nacimiento de la noción de agencia artística veremos cómo la construcción de su imagen no solo ha estado ligada al peso de su reputación; sino también a la falta de comprensión sobre muchas de las actividades que estas mujeres desempeñaron. Este artículo plantea la necesidad de seguir profundizando en la noción de agencia artística para entender cómo algunas de ellas encontraron en determinadas artes un margen dónde ejercer su poder. La revisión de algunas figuras desde la perspectiva de género es necesaria, no solo para restituir su imagen sino para devolverles el lugar que les corresponde en la historia del arte. El análisis del caso de la princesa de los Ursinos es el mejor ejemplo para comprender lo expuesto.

The contrast between the words execrable and exemplary invites us to consider the way in which some women have transcended in history. In a brief review of the foundations of historiography and the genesis of the notion of artistic agency, we will see how the construction of their image has not only been linked to the extent of their reputation, but also to the lack of understanding about many activities undertaken by them. This article raises the need to further explore the notion of artistic agency in order to understand how some of these women found a framework in which to exert their power in specific artistic fields. The reconsideration of certain figures from a gender perspective is crucial, not only to restitute their image but also to return them to their rightful place in the history of art. The analysis of the case of the Princesse des Ursins is the best example to illustrate this.
