Resumen de ¿Cómo representar la dictadura?: Recorrido por estrategias cinematográficas en documentales uruguayos

  Este artículo analiza tres estrategias utilizadas por documentalistas uruguayos para representar la violencia de la dictadura cívico-militar (1973-1985). Para ello, primero introduce el contexto de transición democrática, luego presenta brevemente una discusión teórica sobre el lugar del documental a la hora de representar la violencia; y finalmente, se concentra en casos puntuales que nos permiten reflexionar sobre la validez de la representación más allá de sus límites. Además de analizar las distintas estrategias -el uso de testimonios, de fotografías y de reactuaciones- este artículo nos permite acercarnos a la relación entre el documental y su contexto de producción, en un país donde aún resta mucho por hacer en términos de verdad y justicia.

  This article analyses three strategies used by uruguayan documentary-makers to represent the violence of the dictatorship (1973-1985). To achieve this aim, first, it introduces the democratic transition; then, it presents a succinct theoretical discussion on the relationship between documentary and the representation of violence ; and finally, it focuses on specific cases that allow us to reflect on the validity of representation, despite its limits. In addition to the analysis of different strategies -use of testimonies, of photographs and of re-enactments- this article explores the relationship between documentary and its production context, in a country that still has a long way to go in terms of truth and justice.
