    Resumen: Texto de conferencia en el cual el autor plantea la relación entre tiempo y vida en cualquiera de sus manifestaciones, a partir de interrogantes que busca responder con referencias culturales del pensamiento e historia occidental y griega, la contemporaneidad industrializada y postindustrializada y los significados lingüísticos. Sitúa el tema en la complejidad de la comprensión cultural del tiempo. Ilustra con datos que arrojan las ciencias naturales, especialmente la astrofísica. Para la cultura occidental plantea su restricción en la dimensión cuantitativa, sin tener en cuenta la cualitativa en formas y contenidos. Precisa que en cada cultura y sociedad a través de sus estructuras el tiempo es determinado. En la cultura occidental la noción del tiempo como pasado presente y futuro, se constituye en un referente de dominación de la vida, lo cual hace más dramática la vida humana en las sociedades globalizadas actuales, con un tiempo sincronizado en el mundo globalizado, al cual se le quiere sacar el máximo provecho en cantidad de cosas que se hacen y las consecuencias dramáticas que de esta tendencia emergen para la salud humana, en especial por el estrés de hoy que se vive en occidente.

    ABSTRACT: THE LINKING THREAD OR TIME IN CULTURES The following text is the conference exposed by the author on the relation between time and life in any of its manifestations, based on questionings that intend to answer the industrialized and post—industrialized contemporary times and the linguist meanings by means of cultural references of Greek thought and Western history. The author places the topic in the complexity of the cultural comprehension of time, making use of examples belonging to natural sciences, especially astrophysics. In regards to Western culture, time is restricted in the quantitative dimension, ignoring the qualitative forms and contents. Each culture and society determines its time by means of its structures. In Western culture the notion of time as past, present and future, a reference to life domination is constituted, making even more dramatic human life in present globalized societies. Time is synchronized in the globalized world, time that has to be well spent in as many things as possible, creating dramatic consequences harmful to human health, especially due to the amount of stress present in Western society
