    Emilio Estiú traduce Die Erziehung des Menschengeschlechts, de Gotthold E. Lessing, en el año 1951. En la respectiva introducción marca algunos lineamientos que considera centrales para entender la obra y la importancia del pensador alemán. Diez años más tarde aparece publicado Del arte a la historia en la filosofía moderna, obra en la que Estiú dedica un importante capítulo a Lessing, denominado “Lessing y la teología moderna”. Él mismo se ocupa de aclarar que ese capítulo se cimienta en torno a algunas notas que fue tomando mientras hacía la traducción del texto antes mencionado. En este trabajo analizaremos cuáles son las ideas centrales con las que Estiú nos presenta la vasta y fragmentaria obra de Lessing. En especial cómo ve la articulación entre arte, historia y teología en los escritos del filósofo alemán.

    Emilio Estiú translates Die Erziehung des Menschengeschlechts of Gotthold E. Lessing in 1951. In the introduction, he marks some guidelines he considers fundamental to understand the work and importance of the German thinker. Ten years later, From Art to History in the Modern Philosophy was published. In this work Estiú devotes an important chapter to Lessing, entitled “Lessing and Modern Theology.” He makes it clear that the chapter is built around some notes taken while translating the abovementioned text. In this work we will analyze which are Estiú’s central ideas with which he presents Lessing’s vast and fragmented work. Particularly, how Estiú sees the interaction between art, history and theology in the writings of the German philosopher.
