This chapter links the Poesia escènica (Theatrical Poetry) of Joan Brossa withthe formal procedures that characterize the Theatre of the Absurd by thosepieces classified by Brossa as Irregular Theatre. It also analyses three formsof theatre by Catalan directors who are indebted to Brossa's humour - inPirandello's meaning of this word - and his use of comicality to subvert theconventions of the stage. In this way, certain productions directed by XavierAlbertí, Calixto Bieito or Carles Santos are examples of a postdramatic the-atre that shares Brossa's investigation into the limits of theatricality.
