In 1986 Sergi López and Toni Albà co-created the play Brams o La kumèdiadels berrors [Brams or The Kumedy of Herrors] and after that, each of themon their own performed two monologues that went on to develop a con-siderable reputation within contemporary Catalan theatre: L'ombra [TheShadow], created by Albà in 1994 and Non solum, premiered in 2005 andperformed by López. When comparing these shows, the objective is toobserve that all three works can be framed within the category of comictheatre and, at the same time, are closely related to what the actors learnedfrom their teacher Jaques Lecoq. From Lecoq, they learned about thedramaturgy of the actor and about the conception of actor training throughmovement, encouraging the notion of the actor as a creator versus thenotion of an actor as a mere interpreter. The chapter analyses the techniqueof the comic actor as illustrated in the shows of López and Albà, whileestablishing points of connection with Lecoq's pedagogy and how it hasinfluenced the creative processes of both these performers.
