    Mistagogía, desde el punto de vista cristiano, es la iniciación de los catecúmenos a los misterios y a los sacramentos cristianos; es la revelación divina de los misterios de Cristo, y la apertura de los ojos de la fe a estos misterios; es la explicación y enseñanza espiritual, que nos da estos ojos de fe y nos capacita para comprender y para vivir dichos misterios. Mistagogo será el iniciador a los misterios divinos; el guía espiritual y el maestro; el que enseña y expone los sacramentos. Se llama “mistagogo” a Dios mismo, a Cristo, a los apóstoles y evangelizadores, a los maestros cristianos. La mistagogía es susceptible de estudiarse desde distintas vertientes, como la teológica, litúrgica, antropológica; aquí analizaré la mistagogía desde el punto de vista de la pastoral, se observarán las diferencias entre Oriente y Occidente y se llevará a cabo un breve recorrido histórico.

    Mystagogy, from the Christian point of view, is the initiation of catechumens into the Christian mysteries and sacraments; it is the divine revelation of the mysteries of Christ, and the opening of the eyes of faith to these mysteries; it is the spiritual explanation and teaching, which gives us these eyes of faith and enables us to understand and live these mysteries. Mystagogue will be the initiator to the divine mysteries; the spirit guide and teacher; the one who teaches and exposes the sacraments. God himself, Christ, the apostles and evangelizers, and the Christian teachers are called “mystagogues”. Mystagogy is likely to be studied from diff erent perspectives, such as theological, liturgical, and anthropological; here I will analyze mystagogy from the pastoral point of view, the diff erences between East and West will be observed and a brief historical tour will be carried out.
