  El mito y la poesía son dos elementos esenciales de la obra narrativa torrentina. En este trabajo se analizan ambos aspectos y se indaga en su interrelación tomando como referencia La saga/fuga de J. B. En primer lugar, se profundiza, por un lado, en los orígenes y referencias míticas del Cuerpo Santo, y por otro, en el cauce poético a través del cual toma forma este ingrediente en la novela. En segundo lugar, se estudia la figura de José Bastida, tanto como mito, conectado con el mundo de los Jota Be y todas las referencias culturales y literarias que entraña, como en cuanto poeta con una personalidad y obra propias.

  Myth and poetry are two essential elements of the Torrente Ballester’s narrative work. In this article, we analyzed both aspects and their interrelationship, taking La saga/fuga de J. B. as a reference. In the first place, we study the origins and mythical references of the Cuerpo Santo and the way the writer gives poetic shape to this ingredient. Secondly, we study the figure of José Bastida, both as a myth, connected to the world of the Jota Be and all the cultural and literary references that it entails, as well as a poet with his own personality and work.
