En torno al hecho histórico de la Rendición de Breda, en 1625, de los protestantes holandeses al poder español, en términos artísticos se han tejido varias obras. La autora pasa revista a esas producciones, no sin subrayar que se insertan en un mecanismo de propaganda para el Imperio español. Cúspide de este montaje es el cuadro de Velásquez, con el mismo nombre, también conocido como Las lanzas. El trabajo académico analiza así una cadena de obras de diversos géneros, en intertexto visible y con clara interferencia del momento político

The Surrender of Breda, in 1625, by the Dutch Protestants to the Spanish Empire has been the topic of multiple artistic productions. The author studies several of them in internal connection and shows how the worked together as propaganda for the Spanish empire. The climax of this multilevel construction is the superb painting of Velazquez, also known as The lances. This academic investigation analyses a chain of works different artistic forms, in visible intertext and with a clear interference of the political moment
