    The San Miguel mine (later the Maura mine) is a small mine located in the southern part of the Ribes valley. In principle it would be one more of the small mining operations that proliferated at the end of the 19th century in the Ribes valley if it weren't for the fact that due to a severe process of alteration and oxidation to which the deposit was subjected, it led to the appearance of 'an extensive amount of secondary minerals, previously unpublished in other mines in the area, and very interesting from a mineralogical point of view. This singularity has motivated the completion of the present work, whose main objective is to present the results of the study carried out on the mineralogy of this mine.

    The study contains, on the one hand, a small historical context, which gives us an idea of how it was exploited in the past. For another, a description of the geological context and a description of the mine sufficiently detailed and with upto-date data. Finally, and as the core of the present work, an exhaustive study of the mineral species found in the deposit has been carried out. Applying the usual analytical techniques: Raman, SEM-EDS and, on occasion, DRX, a detailed description of the long list of identified minerals is presented, including the following species mentioned for the first time in Catalonia: cinnabar , atacamite, pseudoboleite, cualstibite, hetaerolite, corkite, osarizawaite and plumbogummite.

    La mina “San Miguel” (després mina “Maura”) és una petita mina que es troba a la part sud de la vall de Ribes. En principi seria una més de les petites explotacions mineres que van proliferar a finals del segle XIX a la vall de Ribes si no fos perquè degut a un sever procés d’alteració i oxidació al que va estar sotmès el jaciment va propiciar l’aparició d’una extensa quantitat de minerals secundaris, inèdits fins al moment a la resta de mines de la zona, i molt interessants des del punt de vista mineralògic. Aquesta singularitat ha motivat la realització del present treball, que té com a objectiu principal presentar els resultats de l’estudi realitzat de la mineralogia d’aquesta mina.

    L’estudi conté, per una part, un petit context històric, que ens dona una idea de com va ser la seva explotació en el passat. Per una altra, una descripció del context geològic i una descripció de la mina suficientment detallats i amb dades actualitzades. Per últim, i com a nucli del present treball, s’ha realitzat un estudi exhaustiu de les espècies minerals que es troben al jaciment. Aplicant les tècniques analítiques habituals: Raman, SEM-EDS i, en alguna ocasió, DRX, es presenta una descripció detallada de la llarga llista de minerals identificats, entre els quals hi figuren les següents espècies citades per primer cop a Catalunya: cinabri, atacamita, pseudoboleïta, cualstibita, heterolita, corkita, osarizawaïta i plumbogummita.
