Resumen de Construyendo soberanía cultural: instituciones, personajes y discursos en el México independiente

Una vez consumada la independencia de México en 1821, e iniciados los foros de debate del constitucionalismo temprano, la organización y la fundación de instituciones, no solamente políticas sino también culturales, formó parte de la conformación de México como un Estado-nación. A partir de estas instituciones culturales, se organizó la educación, la producción del arte y la ciencia a través de una comunidad plural de abogados, periodistas, eclesiásticos quienes generaron una agenda propia y construyeron lo que aquí se propone como soberanía cultural. En el presente estudio no se aborda a la práctica cultural, sino a las instituciones que se establecieron para su organización desde el sistema estatal. Es un análisis de la construcción de instituciones para consolidar desde la cultura la soberanía política. El presente análisis toma al constitucionalismo temprano como un eje que permite un enfoque diferente a las narrativas nacionalistas.

Once the Independence of Mexico was consummated in 1821, and the forums of early constitutionalism began, the organization and foundation of institutions, not only political but also cultural, formed part of the conformation of Mexico as a free and sovereign nation-state. Based on these institutions, the education and production of art and science were organized through a plural community of lawyers, journalists and ecclesiastics who generated their own agenda and built what is proposed here as cultural sovereignty. In the present study, cultural practice is not addressed, but rather the institutions that were established to organize it from the state system. It is an analysis of the construction of political sovereignty, but from the institutional in the field of culture. This article takes early constitutionalism as an axis that allows a different approach to nationalist narratives.
