    En 1615 Gaspar de Guzmán, III conde de Olivares, es nombrado Gentilhombre del Príncipe. Comienza una carrera cortesana que le conducirá a ser el ministro de Felipe IV. El interés del valido por mantenerse en la primera fila de la política le impulsó a participar en las fiestas celebradas en Madrid. Con ello pretendía mostrar su poder ante el rey y los otros miembros de la nobleza, así como legitimar su linaje. Nuestro objetivo es señalar algunas de las ceremonias en las que participa el valido, haciendo hincapié en la pompa que envolvía al todopoderoso ministro del Rey Planeta.

    Gaspar de Guzmán was named gentleman in 1615. From the moment, he started to work beside to the future King Philip IV of Spain. Olivares tried to remain the first line of power by attending the most important ceremonies in Madrid. The purpose was to show the other members of the aristocracy his influence that he carried with the future King. The following will explain those ceremonies that the first minister had attended.
