Escape room como actividad transversal de tres asignaturas básicas de Ingeniería Agroambiental

    En el marco del Proyecto de Innovación Educativa IE22.2009 financiado por la Universidad Politécnicade Madrid se ha realizado una actividad de “escape room” con contenidos de tres asignaturas básicasde primer semestre del Grado en Ingeniería Agroambiental: Física, Química y Expresión Gráfica, conel objetivo de motivar a los estudiantes a estudiar regularmente. El escape room consistió en 3 prue-bas con cuestiones sobre movimiento circular uniforme, disoluciones y unidades de concentración ysistema de planos acotados. Se integró la actividad en una temática agroambiental basada en salvar elMar Menor de los efectos de la eutrofización derivados de la agricultura intensiva. En la primera prue-ba, los participantes evaluaron cómo la contaminación afectaba al movimiento circular uniforme de lospeces. En la segunda prueba obtenían una disolución que les permitía marear a sus secuestradores.La última prueba consistió en trazar sobre una lámina la trayectoria de un puntero láser que incidía enun reloj situado en el vestíbulo de la escuela. La hora que marcaba el reloj era el código de un candadoque abría la puerta del aula, dando así por finalizada la actividad. Los resultados muestran que el es-cape room ha sido una actividad motivadora para los participantes. La actividad favoreció el trabajo enequipo y el repaso de la materia de las tres asignaturas involucradas. Sin embargo, no se observaronefectos positivos ni en la procrastinación, ya que los participantes no adelantaron el estudio, ni en lascalificaciones frente al resto de los estudiantes.

    Within the framework of the Educational Innovation Project IE22.2009 financed by the Polytechnic Uni-versity of Madrid, an "escape room" activity has been carried out with contents of three basic subjectsof the first semester of the Degree in Agro-environmental Engineering: Physics, Chemistry and GraphicExpression, with the aim of motivating students to study regularly. The escape room consisted of 3 testswith questions on uniform circular motion, solutions and concentration units and a system of boundedplanes. The activity was integrated into an agri-environmental theme based on saving the Mar Menorfrom the effects of eutrophication caused by intensive agriculture. In the first test, participants evalua-ted how pollution affected the uniform circular movement of fish. In the second test, they obtained asolution that allowed them to make their abductors dizzy. The last test consisted of tracing the path of alaser pointer on a sheet of film, which was incident on a clock in the school hall. The time stamped onthe clock was the code for a padlock that opened the classroom door, thus bringing the activity to anend. The results show that the escape room was a motivating activity for the participants. The activityfavoured teamwork and the review of the subject matter of the three subjects involved. However, no po-sitive effects were observed either on procrastination, as the participants did not advance their studies,or on grades compared to the rest of the students.
