    El Carnaval de Cádiz es una expresión sociocultural festiva. Durante su celebración, la población gaditana reafirma su identidad local y recrea su universo simbólico a través de las agrupaciones carnavalescas y sus coplas. Redactadas con una finalidad humorística, emotiva, reflexiva y crítica, las coplas reflejan las percepciones de la población sobre la realidad local, nacional e internacional. Este trabajo analiza su contenido para comprender la imagen de la ciudad autopercibida a lo largo del siglo XX.

    The Carnival of Cadiz is a popular festive expression. During its celebration, the local identity is reaffirmed and the symbolic universe of the population is recreated through the carnival groups and their songs. These are written with a humorous, emotional, reflective and critical purpose, reflecting the perceptions of the population about local, national and international topics. This paper analyzes those songs to understand the self-perceived image of the city throughout the 20th century.
