    Este artículo indaga sobre a) el uso y sentidos del concepto “cesarismo” en la obra de Max Weber, especialmente en sus escritos políticos; b) el origen del término y sus raíces historiográficas entre los siglos XVIII y XIX en el contexto europeo, con especial atención al caso inglés; c) la interpretación de un Julio César “democrático” por parte de Theodor Mommsen y su gran influencia en la época.

    This article inquires about a) the use and meanings of the concept “caesarism” in Max Weber’s works, especially in his political writings; b) the origin of the term and its historiographical roots between the 18th and 19th centuries in the European context, with special attention to the English case; c) Theodor Mommsen’s interpretation of a “democratic” Julius Caesar and his great in­fluence at the time.
