Carlos Bousoño (1923-2015) has a prominent position in the significant and extensive history of Spanish literature written after the Spanish Civil War, due to his tripartite role as poet, theorist of lyric expression, and literary critic. As a writer of poetry, he belongs to the first Postwar generation whose creative approach highlights existentialist themes and social concerns. Bousoño's voice manifests itself in his poetic worldview and in his unique style that would influence the group of the Novísimos. This article contextualizes the author's life and work, describes his path within the literary environment of his historical period, and emphasizes the core ideas that Bousoño would repeat and develop throughout the trajectory of his lyrical work.
