    This article brings out a characterisation of two lexical items which are claimed to be closely related: the French verb sentir, and noun sens. This characterisation is given in terms of « schematic forms », which are bound to work out a means of desintrication between the part played in the construction of the meaning of an utterance by the item itself on the one hand, and that played by the context in which it is used, on the other. This implies to account for the identity of the items through their variations, and for the mechanism of interaction with the context. A working hypothesis is that this mechanism of interaction is organised by regular principles. It is claimed that the same parameters are at work in each of the two schematic forms at stake here, though through two different configurations. The article ends with a remark about the relationship between a philosophical concept (that of sens) and the specific properties of the word through which this concept is embodied.

    Cet article constitue un essai de caractérisation de deux unités lexicales apparentées sentir et sens en termes de « forme schématique », visant non pas à enfermer les mots dans des définitions qui les figent, mais à structurer un espace de déploiement de leur variation selon des principes d’organisation postulés généraux. Il est soutenu que les formes schématiques de ces deux unités mettent en jeu les mêmes paramètres, mais sous des configurations différentes, ce qui conduit à une réflexion sur le formatage des formes schématiques en fonction de l’appartenance catégorielle de l’unité. L’article débouche enfin sur quelques remarques concernant les relations entre un concept (le concept de « sens ») comme enjeu et produit d’une réflexion philosophique, et les propriétés spécifiques du mot par lequel ce concept se trouve incarné dans une langue donnée.
