    Este trabajo tiene como objeto de estudio las representaciones de infraestructuras portuarias en la musivaria romana, abordando primero, según el itinerario de las embarcaciones en su arribo a puerto, los faros y otras señales luminarias, después las imágenes identificadas como las dársenas, los muelles, los horrea, etc. Documentadas desde finales de época republicana hasta el siglo VI d.C. en mosaicos ya del periodo bizantino, la diversidad de representaciones de faros aboga en algunos mosaicos por un carácter simbólico que va más allá de la mera imagen de un faro real, mientras que la existencia de columnas como soporte de estatuas y otros edificios, entre los que se sitúan algunos con elementos característicos de los horrea propios de los emplazamientos portuarios atestiguan en otros pavimentos una dosis de realismo, ciertamente interesante.:
