    El objetivo de este trabajo de investigación es analizar los factores clave que al darse de manera simultánea en el siglo XVII dieron lugar a un giro en la persecución de la brujería desde el proceso inquisitorial de Zugarramurdi. Se aborda el contexto histórico-religioso, tratando cuestiones como la lengua, el proceso de identificación entre brujería y herejía, o los casos de acusaciones que se dieron con anterioridad. Además, se estudia la cuestión del género desde una perspectiva sociológica y se incide en la particularidad del concepto akelarre como término que aparece registrado por primera vez en este caso. Se trata de un trabajo académico de carácter histórico y descriptivo en el que se lleva a cabo un análisis con el fi n de demostrar cómo a raíz de estos sucesos que tuvieron lugar entre 1609 y 1610 se fraguó en el norte de España todo un sistema de creencias que derivó en un mecanismo de acusación, condena y muerte que, a su vez, sería el primer paso para acabar con la condena de la brujería en España.

    The objective of this project is to analyze the key factors that when given simultaneously in the seventeenth century, led to a turn in the persecution of witchcraft from the inquisitorial process of Zugarramurdi. Th e historical context is addressed-dealing with issues such as language, the process of identifi cation between witchcraft and heresy, or the cases of accusations that occurred previously. In addition, it is studied the question of gender from a sociological perspective and emphasized the particularity of the concept akelarre as a term that appears registered for the first time in this case.
