    Inspired by the work of Eliana de Simone (2004) on the self-portraits of the German engraver Käthe Kollwitz (1867 – 1914), the present work seeks to identify possible tangencies of the German concept of Bildung – as developed by Reinhart Koselleck (2020) – with the life and work of the artist. Through the analysis of her diaries, letters and works, it is proposed that her art enables the exercise of her self-formation, in constant dialogue with social issues, and to materialize her spirit in the world − in the sense of Georg Simmel (2014) − through these culture objects. Reinterpreting Michel Foucault's (2006) proposal on the effects of writing on the molding of the individual, the piece argues that the artistic practice is for Kollwitz one of self-drawing, that through her self-portraits she constructs herself in the very moment in which she represents herself

    Inspirado no trabalho de Eliana de Simone (2004) sobre os autorretratos da gravurista alemã Käthe Kollwitz (1867 – 1914), o presente trabalho busca identificar possíveis tangenciamentos do conceito alemão de Bildung –desenvolvido por Reinhart Koselleck - com a vida e as obras da artista. Pela análise de seus diários, cartas e trabalhos, propõe-se que sua arte possibilite o exercício de sua autoformação, em diálogo constante com as questões sociais, e materializar seu espírito no mundo − na acepção de Georg Simmel − por meio desses objetos de cultura. Reinterpretando a proposta de Michel Foucault sobre os efeitos da escrita na moldagem do indivíduo, o trabalho defende que a prática artística seja para Kollwitz um desenho de si, que por meio de seus autorretratos ela construa a si no instante mesmo em que se representa
