Resumen de How to do things to words: the experimental manipulation of message variables
Manipulation of message variables always involves production of concrete messages, but these messages do not “operationalize” the variables manipulated. A sensible strategy for manipulation of message variables requires attention to the properties of messages as representatives or sample instantiations of abstract categories. What we know about messages and message categories invites design and analysis solutions quite different from those most commonly employed.
