In this article I aim at analysing the main trends of the history of modern research on the figure and concept of θεῖος ἀνήρ. Through a diachronic journey from the 19th century that becomes synchronous with the turn of the millennium, we observe the evolution of the juncture from exclusively theological treatments to the multidisciplinarity of our days. Following this line, we propose a comprehensive investigation of the pagan θεῖος ἀνήρ in Late Antiquity that incorporates theoretical and methodological elements of disciplines that contribute to a deepening of the social sphere as well as the teacher-disciple relationship.
