Resumen de Arte y dictadura: disputas por el sentido en el campo uruguayo de las artes visuales (1973-1984)

Este artículo se propone contribuir a los estudios sobre cultura y dictadura desde el campo de las artes visuales. En ese sentido, analiza el potencial de las expresiones artísticas como dispositivos de enunciación crítica, y su alcance en las disputas por el sentido. La problematización de la relación entre cultura y dictadura constituirá el marco general de análisis. Considerándose las acciones del régimen en el campo de la cultura como políticas culturales; sus intentos de construir un canon; y los cambios y rupturas con respecto a la década de los años sesenta. A partir de ejemplos, propios del campo uruguayo de las artes visuales, se dará cuenta de distintas posiciones de sujeto que asumieron los artistas. Por un lado, aquellos que tuvieron una participación crítica en los Salones Nacionales del período. Por el otro, aquellos que desde expresiones críticas al régimen, explícitas y politizadas, le disputaron sentido al relato oficial.

This article aims to contribute to studies on culture and dictatorship from the academic field of visual arts. In this sense, it analyzes the potential of artistic expressions as devices of critical enunciation, and its scope in disputes over meaning. The problematization of the relationship between culture and dictatorship will constitute the general theoretical framework of analysis. Considering the actions of the regime in the field of culture as cultural policies; his attempts to build a canon; and the changes and ruptures with respect to the decade of the sixties. From examples of the Uruguayan field of visual arts, different subject positions assumed by the artists will be displayed. On the one hand, those who had a critical participation in the National Salons of the period. On the other hand, those who, from expressions critical of the regime, that were explicit and politicized, disputed the meaning of the official story
