    En 1975, en pleno «Año de la Orientalidad», el Ministerio de Educación y Cultura decidió crear la Escuela Nacional de Danza, institución dedicada a la formación de bailarines de ballet y de folclore a través de dos divisiones: Ballet y Folclore. El presente artículo pretende recorrer cómo fue ese proceso de creación de la institución, poniendo el foco en la división Ballet para luego plantear algunas reflexiones sobre por qué desde el gobierno cívico militar se puede haber apostado a la creación de dicha institución.

    In 1975, during the «Año de la Orientalidad», the Ministry of Education and Culture created the National School of Dance, which was dedicated to form ballet and folk dancers through its respective divisions: Ballet and Folk. This article intends to review how the process of creating the institution was, with focus in Ballet division, and then propose some reflections of why the civic-military government will have opted for the creation of said institution
