  • In recent times, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has led to a series of consequences that are as unforeseen as they are shocking. The sheer scale of its effects demands a significant relocation effort - not only in terms ofhealth - which has called into question and put the resources of overconfident and unprepared humanity for a situation of this magnitude. The excellence of a discourse of infallibility in the face of catastrophes of other times has required a redoubling of health and safety efforts.

    In a society full of information, connected and globalised, it has become evident that there is a lack of reaction to what has happened, and, as we have already noted, the wounds have not only been inflicted on the fragility ofwhat think to be a secure Welfare State system and the cornmiseration ofthe underprivileged world. No one has been spared its long shadow. In other words, it has had repercussions on the environmental optimum, on socio-economic and productive models, on the foundations of our psychology and self-esteem and, in turn, has generated a flood of reflections in the world thought and philosophy. Not even the proximity ofthe "Spanish flu" at the beginning of the 20th century has helped as a tribute to the lived experience. Its repercussions, fragilities, mistakes, and efforts to find new and rapid ways ofreacting in this recent and stillliving history drive us to develop this chapter.
