    Isidoro de Sevilha, cognominado o Hispalense, viveu numa era de transição, que se sucedeu a queda do império Romano do Ocidente, no final do séc. VI e na primeira metade do séc. VII. Irmão do bispo de Leandro de Sevilha, sucedeu-o na diocese hispalense. Autor de vasta obra exegética e doutrinária, fundamentada no saber clássico e na patrística, foi conselheiro de reis, líder de dois concílios da igreja ibérica. Muitos o consideram um dos últimos “padres da igreja”. Sua obra exegética objetiva provar a verdade da fé cristã, através de leitura alegórica e tipológica. Sua maior obra teológica foi o livro das Sentenças, no qual explica toda a sua concepção de mundo: Deus, homem, igreja, os pecados, o castigo, a oração, a lectio divina, a política e o final dos tempos. Este artigo pretende descrever e analisar a visão de mundo isidoriana, vista através do prisma da luta do bem e do mal, do confronto entre as boas ações e os pecados, que emana desta obra.

    Isidore of Seville, called the Hispalense, lived in a transition era, which came after the fall of the Western Roman Empire, at the end of 6th century, and the first half of 7th century. He was the brother of the Bishop of Leander of Seville, and succeeded him in the Hispalense dioceses. He was the author of a vast exegetic and doctrinaire work, based on the classic knowledge and on patristic, he was the counselor of kings, and leader of two councils of the Iberian Church. Many consider him as one of the last “Fathers of the Church”, the objective of his exegetic work was to prove the truth of the Christian faith, through allegoric and typological literature. His major theological work was thebook of Sentences, where he explains his entire conception of the world: God, men, church, the sin, punishment, prayer, the divine lectio, politics, and the end of times. This article aims at describing and analyzing Isidore’s view of the world, from the point of view of the fight between Evil against Good, the struggle between the good deeds and sins that stem from his work.
