La bursitis es un trastorno doloroso que afecta a la bolsa rellena de líquido sinovial, que proporciona amortiguación a huesos, tendones y músculos, que rodean las articulaciones; por lo tanto, lo que conocemos como bursitis trocantérea o trocanteritis, es la inflamación de dicha bolsa, llamada bursa, pero en este caso, de la cadera.
La trocanteritis realmente es la inflamación de la zona donde los músculos se insertan en el fémur, que causa dolor lateral o bilateral en la zona de la cadera y puede irradiarse a lo largo de la pierna, causando una gran molestia al paciente y acompañado de hinchazón, irritación y aumento de la temperatura en la zona concreta.
La bursitis, en general, es una patología que aparece en articulaciones que realizan muchos movimientos repetitivos y de forma frecuente. Cuando se habla de trocanteritis, es muy frecuente en deportistas, por el sobreesfuerzo muscular, y en mujeres, debido a su estructura de la cadera.

Bursitis is a painful disorder that affects the synovial fluid-filled sac, which provides cushioning to the bones, tendons, and muscles that surround the joints; therefore, what we know as trochanteric bursitis or trochanteritis, is the inflammation of said bag, called the bursa, but in this case, of the hip.
Trocanteritis really is inflammation of the area where the muscles are inserted into the femur, which causes lateral or bilateral pain in the hip area and can radiate along the leg, causing great discomfort to the patient and accompanied by swelling, irritation and temperature rise in the specific area.
Bursitis, in general, is a pathology that appears in joints that perform many repetitive and frequent movements. When talking about trochanteritis, it is very common in athletes, due to muscle overexertion, and in women, due to their hip structure.
