Resumen de Moquillo canino: Aspectos históricos y recorrido evolutivo.

  En la actualidad, la enfermedad del Moquillo es una de las patologías de origenvírico más temibles en la especie canina. Tras la Parvovirosis, es la enfermedad víricaque más bajas produce en la especie canina. Prácticamente lo conocemos todo sobreella (etiología, patogenia, sintomatología, métodos diagnósticos, etc.) Sin embargo,en la actualidad, aún desconocemos un tratamiento eficaz.Sabemos que el moquillo canino está causado por un virus ARN monocatenario.Desde el punto de vista taxonómico, CDV (Canine Distemper Virus) es un virus envueltoque pertenece al orden de los Mononegavirales, de la familia Paramyxoviridae ygénero Morbillivirus, de la especie Morbillivirus canino (de las 7 especies que existen).Se da como seguro que el virus del moquillo fue producto de la infección mutacionalentre las especies bovina, humana y canina. El virus de la peste bovina, morbillivirustambién, se conoce al menos desde hace 3000 años. Pasó en el Siglo IV aC al hombrecomo sarampión, que también es otro morbillivirus, y en el siglo XVIII al perro comoMoquillo.Un trabajo publicado en el International Journal of Paleopathology en marzo de2019 utilizó métodos modernos para determinar que el moquillo canino evolucionócomo una mutación del virus del sarampión en Sudamérica durante el periodo decolonización europea.El momento y lugar de origen de CDV se encuentra en discusión, y existen variasdiscrepancias respecto a su historia evolutiva.Vamos a seguir la evolución de la enfermedad desde la Edad Media hasta lasprimeras décadas del siglo XX, cuando se produjeron las primeras vacunas, con máso menos acierto.

  Currently, distemper disease is one of the most fearsome viral pathologies in thecanine species. After Parvovirus, it is the viral disease that produces the lowest numberof deaths in the canine species.We know practically everything about it (etiology, pathogenesis, symptomatology,diagnostic methods, etc.). However, at present, we still do not know an effectivetreatment.We know that canine distemper is caused by a single-stranded RNA virus. Froma taxonomic point of view, CDV (Canine Distemper Virus) is an enveloped virus thatbelongs to the order of Mononegavirales, of the family Paramyxoviridae and genusMorbillivirus, of the canine Morbillivirus species (of the 7 existing species).It is considered certain that the distemper virus was the product of mutationalinfection between the bovine, human and canine species. The rinderpest virus, alsomorbillivirus, has been known for at least 3,000 years. In the 4th century BC it passedto man as measles, which is also another morbillivirus, and in the 18th century to dogsas Distemper.A paper published in the International Journal of Paleopathology in March 2019used modern methods to determine that canine distemper evolved as a mutation of themeasles virus in South America during the period of European colonization.The time and place of origin of CDV is under discussion, and there are severaldiscrepancies regarding its evolutionary history.We are going to follow the evolution of the disease from the Middle Ages to the firstdecades of the 20th century, when the first vaccines were produced, with more or lesssuccess.
