    O objetivo deste artigo é analisar a história da Educação Infantil e de alguns Centros de Educação Infantil Municipal (CEIM) do município de São Mateus a partir dos Projetos Políticos Pedagógicos (PPPs) destes mesmos CEIMs. Atualmente, o Município de São Mateus conta com 36 (trinta e seis) CEIM’s. Destes, apenas 19 (dezenove) forneceram os PPPs para análise. A partir destes foi possível perceber alguns mitos na história do município e da Educação Infantil que vão sendo perpetuados nos PPPs.

    The purpose of this article is to analyze the history of early childhood education and some Municipal Early Childhood Education Centers (CEIM) in the municipality of São Mateus, based on the Pedagogical Political Projects (PPPs) of these same CEIMs. Currently, the municipality of São Mateus has 36 (thirty-six) CEIM's. Of these, only 19 (nineteen) provided the PPPs for analysis. From these it was possible to perceive some myths in the history of the municipality and the Infantile Education that are being perpetuated in the PPPs.
