    Este artículo resume una amplia búsqueda en la bibliografía histórica y en los tratados españoles sobre las condiciones constructivas de los aleros de madera. Se discuten y contextualizan las designaciones de sus elementos, y se indican confusiones e incluso errores. Se hace una clasificación tipológica de estos aleros, mostrando algunos ejemplos relevantes, así como la configuración constructiva de los aleros de madera madrileños de finales del S.XIX. Se concluye con la valoración del contenido tecnológico de las fuentes históricas consultadas y se señala la necesidad de interpretar las fuentes en su contexto histórico y tecnológico.

    This article summarizes an extensive search in the historical bibliography and in the Spanish treatises on the constructive conditions of the wooden eaves. The designations of its elements are discussed and contextualized, and confusions and even errors are indicated. A typological classification of these eaves is made, showing some relevant examples, as well as the constructive configuration of the Madrid wooden eaves from the late 19th century. It concludes with the assessment of the technological content of the historical sources consulted and points out the need to interpret the sources in their historical and technological context.
