From the point of view of the olive industry, the European Union is the largestproducer of olive oil in the world, from which a multitude of by-products are derived, the largest volume being the olive stone. The process of transformation intoactivated carbon is a method of olive stone valorization, which confers attractiveproperties as a support for the synthesis of new photocatalysts. In this work, twotypes of activated carbons have been synthesized from olive stones and used assupports for TiO2 and Pt sequential incorporation. With this strategy, it has beenpossible to achieve an improvement in green hydrogen production via the photo-reformingof glycerol, with respect to the hydrogen generated from TiO2 Evonik P25,a reference material for photocatalytic studies.
