  La candidiasis es una enfermedad micótica causada por diversas especies del género Candida. Su distribución es mundial y existe gran diversidad de cuadros clínicos diferentes. Se presenta un caso clínico de una mujer con diagnóstico de candidiasis vulvo-vaginal, que es la forma clínica más usual.

  El hallazgo de estos organismos como agentes infecciosos involucrados en enfermedades sistémicas ha aumentado en los últimos años.

  Es importante establecer un diagnóstico temprano que lleve a la identificación correcta de la especie implicada para iniciar el tratamiento cuanto antes y también, desarrollar estrategias inmunes lo más específicas posibles para evitar que se creen resistencias a la terapia antifúngica.

  Candidiasis is a fungal disease caused by various species of the genus Candida. Its distribution is worldwide and there is a great diversity of different clinical pictures. The clinical case of a woman with a diagnosis of vulvo-vaginal candidiasis, which is the most common clinical form, is presented.

  The discovery of these organisms as infectious agents involved in systemic diseases has increased in recent years.

  It is important to establish an early diagnosis that leads to the correct identification of the species involved in order to start treatment as soon as possible and also to develop the most specific immune strategies possible to prevent the creation of resistance to antifungal therapy.
