    En 1120, I'évêque D. Hugo reçoit de la reine D. Teresa la jurisdiction de Porto et de son terme. En 1123, il concede au bourg sa premiere lettre de «foral». En 1405, et encore à la suite de la dynamique provoquée par la Révolution de 1383-1385, Ie premier roi de la nouvelle dynastie récupêre por la Couronne le for de la ville, moyennant un versement annuel à I'église de Porto. Ce travail est un essai de synthése, elaborée pour la "1ère lere Rencontre d'Historiens Portugais et Soviétiques" (mars de 1983) de ce que furent ces trois siécles dans la vie du bourg: la croissante diversité de la population avec la naissance d'antagonismes sociaux, la complexité toujours plus grande de I'administration municipale, les relations entre la Couronne, la cathedrale et l'oligarchie de la ville. On étudie en fin l'ascension d'une 4eme force, les hommes des métiers, et les tensions entre eux et la minorité de bourgeois enrichis qui gouverne la ville.

    In 1220, the bishop D. Hugo receives from the queen D. Teresa, the jurisdiction of Oporto and its limits. Three years later, he gives the town its first charter of rights. In 1405, as a part of the dynamics of the '1383-1385 Revolution, the first king of the new dinasty recovers from the crown the lordship of the town by means of an annual payment to Opporto'cathedra!. The present work is an essay of sinthesis, written for the "1st Meeting of Portuguese and Sovietic Historiens" (March 1985), of what were those three centuries in the town's life: the growing diversity of the population, with the beggining of social antagonisms, the increasing complexity of the local administration, the relationship between the Crown, the religious power and the municipal oligarchy. The work ends with a refference to the rising of a forth force, the artisans, and to the tensions between them and the rich bourgeois, who firmly control Oporto's government.
