Karen Jacqueline Amán Jiménez, Gustavo Alberto Chiriboga Larrea, Vladimir Vega Falcón, Lester Wong Vázquez

  • Objective: To estimate the presence of existing musculoskeletal alterations in teachers, when performing telework at the San Felipe Neri Educational Unit during COVID-19. Method: Descriptive observational study. Results: The musculoskeletal alterations present in this population presented mostly as onset of symptoms less than 1 year ago, in all regions both in dorsal or lumbar, neck, hand or wrist, shoulders and elbow or forearm with 45.35% (N=39); 32.56% (N=28), 29.07% (N=25); 4.65 (N=4); 3.49% (N=3), respectively. Conclusion: The prevalence of musculoskeletal discomfort may be affected by lack of knowledge about ergonomic measures for this modality, since it was a way of working different from what they were used to performing and in an unexpected way during their workday and from home, where a workplace has been improvised. For which it is recommended to implement ergonomic measures for the teleworking activity.
