Ciclos de la producción en México y los EUA: identificación e integración

    El artículo tiene dos objetivos, el primero es identificar durante el periodo 1993-2022 los ciclos económicos de México y los EUA. El segundo consiste en mostrar el grado de integración económica de los dos países. Los datos de producción se obtuvieron de la base de datos FRED de la Reserva Federal de San Luis. Para el primer objetivo se usó el método de ciclos de crecimiento, mientras que para el segundo se calculó una medida de integración conocida como LINK. Con el apoyo del método de ciclos de crecimiento se encon- traron en México y los EUA cuatro ciclos con cinco recesiones. En cuanto a integración, el porcentaje de cambio en la varianza del PIB mexicano como resultado de innovaciones en el PIB de los EUA, tras 16 trimestres, fue un LINK de 87.48.

    The paper has two objectives, the first is to identify during the period 1993- 2022 the economic cycles of Mexico and the USA. The second consists of showing the degree of economic integration of the two countries. Produc- tion data was obtained from the FRED database of the Federal Reserve of St. Louis. For the first objective, the growth cycles method was used, while for the second, an integration measure known as LINK was calculated. With the support of the growth cycle method, four cycles with five recessions were found in Mexico and the USA. Regarding integration, the percentage change in the variance of Mexican GDP because of innovations in US GDP, after 16 quarters, was a LINK of 87.48.
