    Tras un recorrido por las utopías del Renacimiento, de las misiones jesuíticas en el Paraguay y del socialismo del siglo XIX, el autor concluye que Simón Rodríguez (1769-1854) no puede ser incluido dentro de las utopías políticas más destacadas. Pasa entonces a hurgar en la noción de bien común y en el republicanismo del siglo XVIII para arribar a una filosofía popular. Señala que el filósofo es el ideal humano para el maestro caraqueño. Analiza sus principales características y define ‘filosofía’. A partir de aquí esclarece su tesis de cuál puede ser la utopía de Simón Rodríguez.

    After a journey through the utopias of the Renaissance, the Jesuit missions in Paraguay and nineteenth-century socialism,the author concludes that Simón Rodríguez (1769-1854) cannot be included in the most prominent political utopias. He then goes on todelve into the notion of the common good and the republicanism of the eighteenth century to arrive at a popular philosophy. Hepoints out that the philosopher is the human ideal for the Caracas master. Analyze its main characteristics and define 'philosophy'. Fromhere he clarifies his thesis of what may be the utopia of Simón Rodríguez.
