  • The increasing phenomenon of the racial hate speech continues to be a serious source of concern for the UN human rights monitoring bodies. The article analyzes the contribute of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination to the struggle against the racial hate speech. Within this context, specific attention has been paid to the monitoring function of such body, especially with reference to the periodic reporting and the individual complaints procedures. The specific aim of this study is to illustrate the main legal obligations flowing from the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) on this respect, in light of the practice developed by the aforementioned Committee.
