Resumen de Dopo la Brexit: quale modello per le future relazioni tra il Regno Unito e l’Unione europea?

Carlo Curti Gialdino

  • AFTER THE BREXIT: WHICH MODEL FOR THE FUTURE RELATIONS BETWEEN UK AND EU? This article analyses the consequences of the referendum on the UK’s exit from the EU, examinating in particular the possibilities on the future relations between the UK and the EU. At this purpose, the author underlines the different possibilities: a) an agreement between the UK and the EU giving to the UK an ad hoc status; b) the reaccession of the UK to the EFTA; c) the UK accession to the European Economic Space (Norwegian model); d) the creation of a customs union (Turkish model); e) the adoption of a free trade agreement (Canadian model); f) a relation based on an high grade of free market combined with a legislation to improve investments (Hong Kong model); g) the application of the rules provided for the WTO.

Having analysed the legal aspects of these models, the author concludes that none of these solutions fits the interests of the UK and thus formulates its considerations on the approach that should be followed.
