Richard Weaver was not only an important theorist of rhetoric. He was also a major figure in the post‐war conservative movement in America. Since an important aspect of Weaver's rhetorical theory involves specific recommendations for conservatives, the critic can consider his persuasive endeavors and evaluate them in terms of his own theory. It appears that Weaver's rhetoric did not closely follow his advice for conservatives.
