    La autora se refiere a las vicisitudes tanto del dolor físico como del dolor psíquico en un duelo importante. Para ello sostiene lo inevitable de la aparición del dolor físico, de la tramitación somática del duelo, dado el origen corporal del mismo en la relación con el objeto. Asimismo, describe el dolor psíquico por la pérdida objetal, a su vez acompañada por la angustia que produce la ausencia del carácter protector que supone dicho objeto, lo que evoca algo del desamparo inicial y la necesidad de otro que sostenga en dicho proceso de duelo. Finalmente, la autora ilustra sus ideas con dos viñetas clínicas.

    Rethinking the psychoanalytic cure: the somatic grief. The author refers to the vicissitudes of both physical and psychical pain in a major bereavement. She argues that the appearance of physical pain, the somatic processing of grief, is unavoidable, since it has its bodily origin in the relationship with the object. She also describes the psychic pain caused by the loss of the object, which in turn is accompanied by the anguish caused by the absence of the protection that the object provided, which evokes in part the initial helplessness and the need for someone else to support the subject in the mourning process. The author illustrates her ideas with two clinical vignettes.
