FROM THE THREE FEARS ... TO THE THREE GRACES The Tunisian transition towards democracy, the constitutional process of the Tunisian institutions, the political tensions and parliamentarian debates inside the constitutional assembly are the main topics treated in this article.
The author describes the intense and passionate dialogue between democratic and conservative forces in Tunisia after the beginning of the revolution on the 17 December 2010, highlighting the sentiment of fear that came along with the democratic transition. He recalls the narrow and difficult way to achieve, during the constitutional process, important goals in the human rights field, such as the recognition of gender equality, the affirmation of a secularized Constitution and the birth of a modern and democratic State based on the rule of law.
