In the present paper the autor emphasizes the importance of scientific expeditions through Amazonia at the end of the 18th century, especially to the knoledge of physical as well as human geography. Among them we must distinguish those made by Alexandre Rodrigues Ferreira, whose reports are essential for the study of amerindian societies of northern Brazil.

L'auteur essaye de mettre en lumiere I'importance des voyages faits à l' Amazonie pendant les années 80 du XVIIIe síecle pour la connaissance de I' espace géographique et humain. Palmi ces voyages il faut distinguer ce qui a était accompli par Alexandre Rodrigues Ferreira. Leur relations de voyage sont indispensables pour la compréhension des sociétés amérindiennes du Nord du Brésil.
